I've had long and happy experience instructing college students and adult artists. Drawing is my teaching specialty, but I’ve also taught colour theory, perspective, presentation techniques, architectural rendering, life drawing, portraiture, painting methods and other aspects of art. I continue to work with groups of artists, and also regularly have the fun but complex duty of jurying an art show.

TEACHING DRAWING: The image below is a composite of samples I prepared to teach one college-level drawing techniques course. In this project, which takes one semester, the point is to experiment with different techniques and media in sequence, from the quickest line drawing to a full rendering. For simplicity and to make a cohesive set, each student chooses one subject for the whole project. I picked an onion for my examples for the silliness factor AND because it's terrific to draw!
TEACHING PORTRAITURE: The following faces were samples prepared for a portrait drawing/painting workshop I gave to an art group over several weekly sessions. All are in the same 9x12 multimedia sketchpad, and were loosely 'finished' within a strict time limit (self-imposed!). The medium is acrylic; each is in one colour of paint plus white.
